Last week, I wrote about one of my favorite singer: Corinne Bailey Rae. I love all of her songs in her first album and I can sing most of them. I used to enjoy her second album on a long flight San Francisco-Tokyo last year. Two days ago, I finally had a chance to see her in flesh and blood. I finally had a chance to enjoy her stunning performance and her wonderful voice. I finally had a chance to sing along with her at AXIS Java Jazz. Amazing.

To make it (almost) perfect, I also got her autograph! My boyfriend who had won a chance to meet her in a Meet and Greet brought my CD and asked her to sign it. How lucky I am!

Yesterday, I had a reunion dinner with a high school friend who now lives in Japan. He came to Indonesia to spend holidays with his family. He gave me this cute golden Maneki Neko snowball. According to Japanese belief, Maneki Neko is a cat that brings good luck.

Well, I hope I'm lucky enough to step my foot again in Japan someday. :D

Last week, I received a box of business cards from @kndotnet. This is my third card that was ordered there. You know what, I get it for free! My first (blogger) business card was made just before Pesta Blogger 2009. Then I ordered for the second times just a few days before heading off to America last July.

Do you know that @kndotnet have a special promo for bloggers? The promo could be a discounted price and *uhuk* free cards. Yaayy! Do you have a good one?

I was invited to @america opening celebration on December 1, 2010. Prior to the event, I received FOUR invitations for the event. I’m not kidding; I got invitation via fax, email, post delivery and Facebook message. Even these redundant invitations sound “mubazir”, however I felt so honored. Maybe they reaaally wanted me to come to the celebration! #lebay

The opening celebration was held at two different places: Ritz Carlton Ballroom and @america. Ceremonial event took place at Ritz Carlton while the music performance held at @america. You know which event I chose, don’t you?

So, I spent the night by watching performances of White Shoes and The Couple’s Company, Saykoji and Sandhy Sondoro. There were also performances from Oppie Andaresta and Slank. In the end of the show, I went to the ballroom looking for something to eat!

The @america itself is a cultural center supported by US Embassy. Unlike the common cultural center, it’s equipped by some sophisticated and so up-to-date technologies. There are some giant monitors showing videos, interactive touch screen monitors and iPad to be used by the visitors. Oh BTW, last time I visit there’s a HUGE Google Earth machine just like I found in Google’s headquarter, Mountain View CA!

Last weekend, I was invited to a Thanksgiving celebration held by US Ambassador in his residence. This was my very first Thanksgiving dinner. My friend from US Embassy told me that Thanksgiving is second largest holiday in US -after Christmas holiday. Thanksgiving is the time when people sit together with their family or friends and be thankful for all the things that have passed over the last year. The most popular main menu for Thanksgiving dinner is roasted Turkey. Apparently, about one-third American consumption of turkey occur in Thanksgiving-Christmas season.

Well, when I was in United States, I ate turkey twice, in form of sandwich. I was not too interested to the chance of having turkey as my dinner. But a friend from Embassy convinced me that we're gonna have a special roasted turkey. He assured that the process of cooking roast turkey makes it tasted different with turkey sandwich. The meat will be tasty and appetizing. So, that's why then I decided to pick a plate full of roasted turkey. You know what, I never thought that turkey could be so da*n delicious!

Too bad I forgot to take picture from the dinner. Above this post is my picture with some of the alumni from International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). And that's how I spent my first Thanksgiving dinner, an American tradition, in Indonesia.

Perkenalkan si Putih, kucing perempuan yang cantik dan berbadan bongsor. Putih tadinya adalah kucing tetangga yang suka main ke rumah untuk nebeng makan, tidur dan pup. Belakangan, tetangga memasrahkan si Putih untuk dipelihara keluargaku. Tampaknya juga dia betah dan bahagia di rumahku haha. Kucing ini sombong banget, nggak suka digendong. Kalau lagi BT, dia ngegigit orang yang maksa menggendong dia. Kadang-kadang menyebalkan +_+

Ini kolase Putih yang lagi mandi kucing malam-malam. Kalau udah mandi begitu lalu bulunya kuacak-acak, dia menggeram juga hahaha

Sore kemarin, saya menerima kiriman dari Bentang Pustaka yang isinya adalah *jreng...jreeeng...* bukuku!  Yup, inilah buku pertama saya dgn saya sebagai penulisnya. Beberapa bulan lalu, tulisan saya memang pernah disertakan dalam buku kolaboratif ngerumpi.com (http://bit.ly/brhPtJ). Tp kali ini saya belajar untuk menulis buku sendirian.

Buku ini berjudul Gratis! Keliling Indonesia & Belajar di Luar Negeri karena Blog. Beberapa bulan lalu, penerbit Bentang Pustaka menyampaikan ajakannya untuk menerbitkan buku yang berisi pengalaman saya ngeblog dan bagaimana mendapatkan berbagai peluang darinya. Bukunya sendiri ditujukan untuk pemula, bukan blogger advance yang sudah mendapatkan pengalaman jauh lebih banyak  daripada saya :) Niatnya berbagi cerita dan motivasi supaya pembaca mau terus ngeblog dan berbagi.

Minggu lalu, @oomyahya melontarkan pertanyaan di Twitter, "siapa yang suka menggunakan PowerPoint. Langsung aja saya jawab, "suka jg karena kebutuhan pekerjaan dst." Selain saya, ada juga beberapa orang lain yang menjawab. Eh ternyata jreng..jreeeng... itu adalah kuis dadakan @oomyahya di twitter! Saya -mungkin karena penjawab pertama- mendapat buku terbarunya Belajar Sendiri Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010 terbitan Elex Media. Ini adalah karyanya ke ehm, ke 34. CMIIW. Produktif banget yaa? Pheeew.... Sore tadi, kirimannya tiba di rumah. Seneng deh! Terima kasih @oomyahya, semoga makin laris buku-bukunya!

Lihat #merahputih di mana-mana, jadi keingetan sama casing kedua ponsel saya ini. Kebetulan warnanya merah dan putih. Tapi nggak sengaja dihubungkan dengan warna bendera Indonesia sih. BlackBerry merah ini hasil menang lomba XL tahun 2008 lalu, limited edition makanya covernya juga merah. Spesial. Samsung putih ini ponsel Android yang dibeli beberapa bulan lalu setelah Windows Mobile saya rusak.

Warna boleh merah dan putih, tapi sayangnya keduanya bukan produk Indonesia.
